"SPIRIT OF '76"

The following artworks were submitted to me in 1976, to be included in a fanzine I produced at the time,

THE PORTABLE FANZINE. That year I created a special edition which also served as the Program Book

for the 1976 Underground Comics Convention hosted by Clay Geerdes in Berkeley, California.

Although I was scheduled to be a guest at the Convention, I was too drunk to get on the airplane

and had to send the 2,000 copies by Greyhound the next day, copies that were belatedly distributed

by Clay over the course of the year.

Unfortunately I do not have a record of either artist's name -- other than the signatures on the drawings.

So my thanks again to VINCENT and DOUG for their depictions of The Spirit of the Underground
